How do you know if you have good "internal conflict" in novel writing?
I'm writing a story and everything was going well. Until, i started to second guess myself on my characters Internal Conflict. Can an internal conflict be as simple as, say, not getting along with someone? Or feeling fear and regret about the way you treated someone?In short, my story is about a group of kids that go on an adventure to save the lead character, Jason's younger sister, who has been kidnapped basically . Jason her older brother has been ignoring his younger sister, lately since their mother re married and is forced to get along with his new step brother, Brody. Jason, is eager to leave for college and caught up in all the tasks and hasn't been giving his younger sister the attention she is used to from him before she is kidnapped . After, she is kid napped, Jason and Brody and pals must go on this adventure to save find her. All the while learning to get along, and evolve into a more brotherly relationship. In regards to " internal Conflict" can it be as simple as Jason, growth in having to create better relation ship with stepbrother during adventure? Also, him feeling regret about ignoring his younger sister and fearing he might really loose her? Are these elements enough for Internal Conflict?HELP I'm having internal conflict about Internal Conflict

How far can you push the limits of novel writing....(details inside)....?
I have absolutely no experience in script writing, music construction, and I lack the knowledge of your typical theater stage structure, which makes my desire to write an opera practically unquenchable. I'm over age with no musical talent The only skill I do possess is writing. I know the manuscript format, dialogue punctuation, etc., so I was wondering if I could somehow write an opera as a novel. Is this pushing the limits of novel writing? Do you think it's possible?Thank you. BQ Have you ever read a book that somehow pushed the limits? For example, it may have been a musical in written form, etc...
What happens when NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month) is over?
i just heard about it. i doubt i will be able to finish a novel in this amount of time left. so what happens when it's done? does it still let you write books? is it still functional?

Vanessa looked beautiful dressed in all white cradling their newborn son in her arms. Looking up she smiled at her husband but didn t say a word. Matt loved when she smiled especially her deep dimples that gave her an angelic look They finally added another addition to the family after years of trying. You look beautiful sweetheart Matt said.His son resembling him identically. If you were to place his baby picture beside his son s you wouldn t be able to tell the difference.Matt reached out for his baby but something began pulling him back.He fought to join his wife and son but he couldn t. A gate appeared between the two and a thick cloud formed until Vanessa and their son was no longer in sight.Matt jerked violently in his sleep. He woke up in a pool of sweat. Surrounded by loved ones and and a doctor. He was hooked up to an IV. He felt the discomfort between his legs where a catheter was placed. He was in pain and still in shock. Where is Vanessa? he managed to mumble with the little strength he hadHe looked at Vanessa s parents and his family. The expressions told him that things were not going to be okay. He had been in a deep sleep since the tragic events from earlier which replayed in his mind. We have a carton of chocolate icecream in the freezer and you want to go out for vanilla Matt shook his head at his wife to be. We want vanilla she pouted rubbing her large belly.Matt couldn t say no to the love of his life and their soon to be child. As much as she changed her mind with her pregnancy cravings never once bothered Matt. Come on you re such a brat he said helping her off the couch. It had been a little difficult for her to get up as she used to do. She enjoyed every minute of being catered to while pregnant. Matt grabbed the keys and they headed out the door.Helping Vanessa to the car and making sure she was comfortable before heading to his side to hop in. Turning on the car he steered with one hand and intertwined his free hand with hers. I love you Vanessa said puckering up her lips for a kiss while they waited for the light to turn green. I love you more Matt said.The convenient store was only a few blocks away. He pulled into the lot and parked in front I m going to wait in the car babe Vanessa said. Aight I ll be right back Vanilla right are you sure Matt stressed the word sure. Countless times Vanessa made him go right back to get what she craved during her pregnancy. Matt couldn t get tired of her though. In his eyes she could do no wrong. She was the perfect wife and he knew she would be a perfect mother. She was his everything. I am sure honey she laughed. Kissing her on the cheek Matt got out of the car and walked to into the store. Vanessa changed the radio station multiple times deciding on 102.3fm. She sang along to one of her favorite old songs and rubbed her belly.When she heard two men arguing she shut off the radio. Two men were yelling profanities to each other. Onlookers stared in hopes to see a quarrel between the two men rather than call the police. Vanessa seemed to be in the middle of it all while sitting in the car between the two men. She was about to get out of the car to get away from the heated argument and join Matt in the store. He s got a gun someone yelled. That s when things seemed to go in slow motion.Matt finally reached the counter paying for the vanilla ice cream when he heard the sound of gun shots. Everyone in the store screamed dropping to the floor. Vanessa Matt thought leaving the ice cream on the counter and running at full speed to the car. The two men were shooting back and forth and the sound of glass shattering and screams filled the air. He locked eyes with one of the shooters but continued on his path to save Vanessa making it to his car in seconds he spotted Vanessa slouched over in her seat. Shots were still being fired back and forth. Covering Vanessa s bloody body with his own Matt felt sharp pains ripping through his back. Followed by complete darkness.It was a dream in the beginning Vanessa died and he is dreaming while in a colma like state he was shot multiple times. Basically he is going to get revenge in the story
What kind of education do you need for novel writing?
The long story short I am trying to shake off my phobias so I can write a novel whose idea I came up with about ten years ago, but said phobias have really kept me from doing anything positive in the way of working on the novel itself aside from working on the story in my head. I have recently purchased some books on the subject, but I am starting to wonder if that is really enough. Are there some classes I should take? Are there any I can take online?
Are there any romance novel writing techniques?
I am happily married, but have not much more than geek level dating skills. The romance genre is a mystery to me.I am trying to understand the romance genre as a writer.I need not the best book ever, but one whose techniques are easy to see, yet is not crud to read.A writing book analyzing the romance genre might be good though. I want to grow as a writer, and a few books have helped, not be being best, but by showing technique and core ideas. Example Fangs of K'aath to eliminate the word said, without replacement. Action prompt by X, followed by speach, presumably by X Water for Elephants for eliminating cliff hanger chapter endings, and show character driven plot.Got anything?What core ideas do I need to know to get the two together, and what are the stumbling blocks for them? and what is too clich d, if I may ask maybe too many questions?I do not necessarily need or want a list of the top romance novels. The last time I asked, I got that. Doing that will not score at all.
Does anyone know of any 'books of legend, or myth?' (for novel writing purposes)?
Basically, I am in the planning stages of writing a book.A part of my premise involves the idea of a legendary or mythological book, in the sense that it MIGHT exist, but we do not know for sure. I could just as easily make up a book The Book of Secrets, etc etc but I would rather start with something based on an idea already present in reality, whether through a fable, ancient history, or what have you.Unfortunately, Google and my searches have not helped thus far. So I need your help.Whether it is religious, magical, or anything else, it needs to be a book that is proposed or suggested to be in existence, but as of now there is no current proof ie, suggested animal Loch Ness Monster. Suggested, but no solid proof . I would appreciate any help.

I've always just written in Word, kept notes on separate Word docs. Thought it might be worth trying a novel writing software, though I'm not interested in buying one just yet. Has anyone used a free one they can recommend? I've seen a few Celtx, Storybook but was wondering if anyone has first hand experience and could make a recommendation. Thanks

Novel Writing.. Help Please!?
So i got a novel writing software to help me write my novel, organize it, etc. P.S. it does movie scripts, audio, and a bunch of other stuff 2 Anyways, i have my story line and all that and I've wrote my first chapter. But does anyone know how to add another chapter? If yoou do tell me.Sorry, I guess in order to tell me how you need to know what software it is..
